June 2015 School Board Meeting - Special Session Minutes

MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION FOR WAYNE SCHOOL DISTRICT HELD IN THE DISTRICT OFFICE ON WEDNESDAY JUNE 15, 2015 AT 7:10 PM.

Those Present:
Joni Taylor - President
April Torgerson - Vice President-
Cory Anderson - Member
Jeff Chappell - Member
Curtis Whipple - Member
Burke Torgerson - Superintendent
Heather Okerlund - Business Administrator

Conducting: Joni Taylor

Joni Taylor called the meeting to order. She announced we would begin with the Pledge of Allegiance followed by a reverence from Cory Anderson.

Joni Taylor swore in the new Business Administrator, Heather Okerlund.

BUSINESS ITEMS:
Previously proposed increase in tax rates and truth in taxation deadlines and requirements.

Burke Torgerson described the different types of the taxation levy's and what options we have to select from. We got more clarification regarding the board levy and board voted levy. Discussed which would be the best for the district at this time. Ultimately decided to stay with the current motion made in May.

With regards to the consulting fees Burke Torgerson said he heard back from Alex Buxton and he said his costs would run about $5,000 to $6,000 and he would recommend also using an attorney which would be about $3,000.

April Torgerson made a motion that we hire Alex Buxton to help with the campaign. Curtis Whipple seconded. All in favor.

Curtis Whipple motioned to approve the costs for the attorneys, whichever attorney we end up using. Cory seconded. All in favor.

April Torgerson made a motion to adjourn. Curtis Whipple seconded. All in favor.
