Community Council April 13, 2023

Attendance: 

Parents: Kari Dennison, Beth Piesner, Kallie Brian, Tacey Wood 

Teachers: Staci Ekker, Amber Draper  Principal: Wendy Potter

School Board Member: April Togerson 

Welcome by Beth at 2:45

Motion to approve February minutes: Kari, 2nd by Beth

Budget discussion: 2022-23 funds spent, might have $5-10,000 left over. 

*Could keyboards for the 4th graders iPads be purchased with any left over funds? 

*Can the projectors be moved for the reading room and library? 

* Does MS & High school have a PTO or community council for purchasing their own school T-shirts?

* Can shave some off of the budget if we spend off all of our 2022-2023 funds. 

* Added in leadership for teachers.  

* School plan: change from 3% to 2%, priorities the same. 

* Acadience 71% for 2022

* RISE 2022: 54% for ELA, 67% for Math, and 67% for science 

*80% growth in 2nd and 3rd!

• 1 of 3 schools in the state to receive recognition for progress monitoring from BOY to MOY. 

*Sharon Birmingham hired for Kristen’s position. 

* Hiring 2 paras for Sharon and Ashley E’s positions. 

Teacher appreciation May 8th-12th

Snack cart? 

Field Day: Shirts for the elementary. 

New plan for 2023-2024; Kari motioned and Beth 2nd. 

Action items: art supplies, Living Planet Aquarium visit, Egg drop- reorder some supplies, September 2023, and Fishlake Salmon run September-ish? 

Beth set up the fire truck for May 25th, Eat in the Gym, Mandy rotations, Foam machine for a different day?
